What is the Interactive Series
The Interactive Series is a collection of compositions that I started early this year. These projects rely heavily on user generated input. All input is generated online, as the themes of each piece revolve about one unique aspect of the online experience.
The first piece, Key Buxom Kamikaze @ H.Q., focuses on the online marketplace. I setup an eStore on hunterewen.com that sold notes and letters for the title. People that purchased notes were allowed to choose the pitch, duration, and measure number of their notes. I was allowed to choose what octave each note was in, and how the notes were ordered within each measure. The result will be premiered in the 2006-2007 season. You can download the completed piece for free here. Feel free to perform or record this piece--so long as any profit goes to the Hope Center.
The second project ran from January to March 2007; it is called Honk Home. It is based on the idea of a "flash introduction". Just about everyone who visits this page has navigated through my flash introduction (here). In order to enter this website, the user must click one of the 100+ boxes. Each of which relates to a unique note (or rest) for one of the instruments. As time goes on, and more and more people visit hunterewen.com, the trio will become more and more complete. More information on this project will be available soon.
The third piece in this series, Canilène & Caprice mimics the "online registration form" as its driving input mechanism. Users will be able to access my site, fill out a form, and a unique two movement string quartet is generated based on their inputs. Different inputs will yield different results, so every unique person who fills out the form will receive a completely original piece of music.
